We’re always looking for a summer to remember, praying for something epic to happen. The thing is summer goes by quicker as we get older. The pressure was on to make it worth while, considering it is the last summer where we have to go back to school. I had a decent time, the weather was disheartening at the beginning which caught me off guard but showed itself up nearing the end. I worked two jobs, at Endless Summer Tanning and the Hooded Merganser as a hostess. I love both of my jobs and worked very often, yet managed to fulfill the majority of my “summer to-do list” on my free time. From go-carting, jumping off the pier, floating down the channel, to cliff jumping - my friends and I usually had a jam-packed schedule. My summer wouldn’t be the same without my 5 best friends, Tianna, Chelsea, Briana, Zoe and Elise. Making memories and taking pictures to remember them are something we all decided we should do. Now that we are all starting to get our licenses, our eyes have been opened to a whole new sense of freedom.
My first parentless road trip is something I will never forget. My friend, Grant invited Shayna and I to his house in Calgary to celebrate his birthday with him and his closest friends at the stampede. I met the funniest people and got to spend time with one of my long lost best friends, Jeff Coates! That trip was definitely a highlight of my summer.
Things could have been better if I had that certain someone in town, but absence does make the heart grow fonder (don’t mind the cliché). My girls and I have been through a whole lot through the past couple months, but we do it together… like a wolf pack. Every party this summer, no exaggeration, would consist of us reporting back to “the crew” as if we can’t have a legitimate good time without at least one partner in crime. I have had the time of my life this summer, even if it has been somewhat boring at times. It was always an annoyance when I would have ONE day off on the day that everyone else was working. That’s what is unfortunate, we are all growing up… some of us are dragging a bit behind but we are. We are working, getting busier and neglecting the time we do have by sleeping. I believe that one can sleep when their dead… although sometimes you just have to chill out and embrace life, take a look around and absorb all things it has to offer. My summer was eye-opening for me in many ways that I can’t explain. I went into it looking to try new things and get a tan, great success!
